m:Via tries to apply communications technologies and models of services to the transport by road, improving the application of the mobile communications and wireless networks technologies in road transportation, adding value in terms of information and entertainment to the driver and passengers, support to professional vehicles, comfort and optimization of the traffic. m:Vía wants to achieve technology and knowledge to improve the transport by highway, turning the roads and the vehicles into intelligent enviroment. It is supported by: • Research on network and communications technologies applied to vehicles. • Research on embarked technologies (technological aspects related to systems on board in vehicles, and networks among vehicles). • Services engineering, approaching the design and creation of a framework that facilitate the lifecycle of services associated to this technology, that is to say, the development, deployment, management and administration of these services. • Finally, to analyze the feasibility of this study creating realistic scenarios on which it could be possible to validate the proposed solutions, extracting quantitative and qualitative conclusions on the performance of systems, user acceptance, usability, etc. |
